A full counselling service for college and university placement is provided at KISU, a process which begins in Year 9 when students choose their IGCSE subjects. A dedicated college counsellor is available to counsel students and parents on the best options for transition to IB and university.
In Year 11 students have a college counselling session every three weeks. In these sessions, students are introduced to a variety of online personality and career tests and begin researching possible university courses. They are also introduced to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and choose subjects for Year 12. Presentations for parents are also delivered, and the college counsellor encourages parents to visit the school to discuss the best programme for their children.
In Year 12, students are provided with individual support and guidance to choose courses and careers, and given assistance to find suitable universities to which to apply. Through workshops, students are provided with practical advice to complete application forms, write essays and apply for scholarships. Students also have the opportunity to attend presentations given by visiting representatives from universities around the world and attend university fairs held in Kampala.
