Educational Visits

Learning does not cease when KISU students leave the four walls of their classroom, we fully understand the need to develop lifelong learners and consequently challenge our students to learn wherever they are.  From Year 3 upwards, all students enjoy overnight trips which enable them to experience a wide range of outdoor education activities including, sailing, camping, kayaking and animal tracking in one of Uganda’s national parks.

Students are accompanied by fully trained staff with outdoor education and first aid skills.

FIELD TRIPS
Students will experience a variety of opportunities throughout their secondary years to enjoy academic field trips in and around Kampala.  Geography students conduct regional surveys of the local environs whilst French students taste the traditional cuisine at a local French restaurant.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION TRIPS
All secondary students partake in the annual Outdoor Education week early in first term.  Each year group has the opportunity to live together for a week in the outdoors and gain a uniquely Ugandan experience.  These trips are closely tied to their curriculum whist reflective journals encourage students to articulate their feelings about new and interesting experiences.

Our locations are varied for each year group and expose the students to the natural beauty and serenity of the Ugandan countryside.  Whilst experiencing nature first hand they may also learn the art of sailing of Lake Victoria, conduct scientific experiments in Mabira Forest, build a community a Wobelengi or kayak down the rapids of the upper Nile.  Each trip allows students to challenge themselves and be risk takers, care for others and understand the importance of teamwork, as well as have the opportunity to build relationships outside the classroom.

OVERSEAS TRIPS
During the mid-term break in February each year students have the opportunity to join an overseas trip to experience another culture and engage in a variety of activities.  Destinations have been very diverse over the last few years from Egypt, London, Paris and Italy to Mount Kilimanjaro as well as a regular Ski Trip to test your skills on the mountain slopes of Europe.
