Placement Policy<\/h5>\n

KISU does not accept students w i t h a history of drug, alcohol or weapon possession, or abuse. KISU does not accept students who have been expelled from their previous school for serious behavioral issues (including physical violence and bullying). KISU reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant, at its sole discretion.<\/p>\n

B.<\/strong> KISU only admits students with minor\/mild Learning Support Needs. 1. Primary (Ages2 \u2013 11years)<\/h5>\n

[\/stm_title][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeInDown” css=”.vc_custom_1619190572970{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]\u00b7 Admission is non-selective, placing new students by age, according to the English National Curriculum (ENC) guidelines as set out annually by KISU in its document – \u201cEntry Ages by Class for the Academic Year\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 The above guidelines will be strictly followed, except i n the following circumstances:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Students w i t h birthdays in August can be placed one class lower than age-group at recommendation of KISU, or at the request of pa rents.<\/p>\n

2. Secondary (Ages11 \u2013 18years)<\/h5>\n

  • Students coming from International Schools using the ENC, US, PYP, MYP or other internationally recognized\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0curriculum will be placed according to previous level or class \u2013 providing this does not place a student more than one year above or below their normal cohort.<\/li>\n
  • Students coming from local educational systems aged 11 years or above on the date of entry\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0will be tested\u00a0for\u00a0placement.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This\u00a0testing\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0carried\u00a0out\u00a0immediately\u00a0prior\u00a0to\u00a0entry\u00a0and\u00a0is\u00a0for\u00a0the purposes\u00a0of\u00a0placement\u00a0into\u00a0the\u00a0most\u00a0appropriate\u00a0year-group,\u00a0taking\u00a0academics,\u00a0maturity\u00a0and previous\u00a0education\u00a0into\u00a0account.\u00a0These\u00a0placement\u00a0tests\u00a0are\u00a0not\u00a0intended\u00a0to\u00a0be\u00a0used\u00a0for\u00a0selection\u00a0into\u00a0the\u00a0most\u00a0appropriate\u00a0English\u00a0or\u00a0French\u00a0class,\u00a0but\u00a0may\u00a0be\u00a0used\u00a0to\u00a0define\u00a0the\u00a0appropriate\u00a0Maths set.<\/li>\n
  • \u00a0Secondary-aged students testing 2 years or more above or below their expected level may not be accepted for entry into KISU, if it is felt that this placement would be inappropriate for social or other considerations. For example,a 14 year ol d\u00a0\u00a0will not be eligible for entry into Year 7, and likewise, a\u00a0 13\u00a0 year o l d will not be accepted into Year 12 \u2013 even\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0if they have achieved the appropriate academic level.\u00a0\u00a0Acceptance and placement in such cases is at the sole discretion of the School Administrator, in consultation with appropriate senior staff members.<\/li>\n
  • Students\u00a0wishing\u00a0to\u00a0enter\u00a0Year\u00a09\u00a0or\u00a0above\u00a0must\u00a0have\u00a0sufficient\u00a0use\u00a0of\u00a0English\u00a0(both\u00a0spoken\u00a0and\u00a0written)\u00a0to\u00a0enable\u00a0them\u00a0to\u00a0fully\u00a0participate\u00a0in\u00a0all\u00a0classes.\u00a0Failure\u00a0to\u00a0meet\u00a0this\u00a0level\u00a0may,\u00a0however,\u00a0result\u00a0in\u00a0a\u00a0student\u00a0being\u00a0offered\u00a0a\u00a0place\u00a0in\u00a0Year\u00a08,\u00a0if\u00a0appropriate.<\/li>\n
  • Students\u00a0wishing\u00a0to\u00a0enter\u00a0Year\u00a012\u00a0must\u00a0provide\u00a0written\u00a0evidence\u00a0of\u00a0academic\u00a0attainment\u00a0equivalent\u00a0to\u00a05\u00a0Grade\u00a0C\u00a0passes\u00a0at\u00a0IGCSE\/GCSE\u00a0level.<\/li>\n
  • \u00a0New\u00a0students\u00a0may\u00a0not\u00a0be\u00a0accepted\u00a0\u00a0into\u00a0Years\u00a011\u00a0or\u00a013,\u00a0unless\u00a0\u00a0they\u00a0have\u00a0previously\u00a0studied\u00a0the same\u00a0courses\u00a0as\u00a0offered\u00a0at\u00a0KISU,\u00a0and\u00a0have\u00a0the\u00a0appropriate\u00a0course-work\u00a0completed\u00a0to\u00a0allow\u00a0them\u00a0to\u00a0meet\u00a0the\u00a0expectations\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0of\u00a0their\u00a0course\u00a0\u00a0(IGCSE\u00a0or\u00a0IB)\u00a0witho<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
