Welcome from Head of Secondary

The KISU Secondary school provides an environment in which young men and women develop the skills and knowledge required to tackle the challenges of life beyond school. While academic progress is important and our academic expectations are high, we strongly encourage all students to make the most of the many opportunities available that run parallel to their academic studies. Our academic programme sequentially develops young minds to think in a more rounded manner and places concepts and skills ahead of content, through critical thinking and reflection.

From Years 7 to 9 students are engaged in the English National Curriculum (modified slightly for our international setting and student body). The curriculum aims to develop a student’s potential by encouraging independent thinking, curiosity, enthusiasm and respect for hard work. As students move through the early part of Secondary they learn personal, learning and thinking skills via a core set of subjects that provide a diverse range of learning experiences.

Our Year - 10 & 11 students currently study for up to 10 subjects at International General Certificate of School Education (IGCSE) level through the Cambridge University examination board. Upon completion of their IGCSEs they are well equipped to take on the challenge of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in their final two years of schooling. The IBDP is the premier university entrance qualification and is recognised in over 140 countries. Students study 6 subjects plus the 3 core elements of Theory of Knowledge, Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) and the Extended Essay. The IBDP maintains the broad and balanced nature of good quality education which is a key feature of education at KISU. We are very proud of the fact that our students have received acceptance to an increasing number of excellent universities in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

We provide an extensive extracurricular/sporting programme based around participation and the development of teamwork and dedication. These are complemented by a whole school approach to community service and the opportunity to be involved in a variety of clubs and performances. We provide an array of opportunities to develop new skills and discover undiscovered talents. Through our commitment to pastoral care and developing a well rounded individual, equipped to actively contribute to the global society, we strive to instil in each individual a philosophy of being an inquirer, a thinker, a communicator, a risk-taker and being knowledgeable, balanced, principled, caring, open-minded, and reflective. You are more than welcome to visit our Secondary school where we would be happy to have the opportunity to share our KISU learning experience with you and your family.
