School Director’s Welcome

Welcome to Kampala International School Uganda (KISU). We are truly an international school, with over 46 nationalities, from 15 months – 18 years of age.

Situated in central Kampala, KISU is set on a beautiful and spacious campus that has been carefully designed to enrich the academic journey of all our students. We have state-of-the-art classrooms and welcoming community spaces in Primary as well as specialist classrooms in Secondary. Our staff and students benefit from a high-quality teaching and learning environment. Our range of indoor and outdoor facilities mean that we can offer an array of opportunities for students to participate in diverse extracurricular activities. This comprehensive approach significantly enhances their overall school experience.

Our curriculum integrates the British and international education systems, giving students a diverse learning experience that transitions from inquiry-based learning in Primary and an English National Curriculum adapted for our unique setting, to IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Programmes in Secondary. Our students consistently outperform world averages, attesting to our academic excellence.

At KISU, our philosophy is to offer an education that addresses our students’ present requirements while equipping them for future opportunities. We take immense pride in our tradition of academic excellence and innovative teaching practices. KISU, through its robust community and collaborative partnerships, delivers a rich and varied learning environment that extends beyond traditional schooling. We provide multiple opportunities for students to explore their passions and talents, complementing their academic progress. We firmly believe that the blend of academic and life skills our students gain is crucial for their future success.

Education is our utmost priority, and we’re dedicated to providing a holistic education that prepares our students for success in a rapidly evolving, competitive world. We believe that our students’ academic abilities, resilience, and personal skills are vital to their future success as confident and capable leaders. We foster a nurturing and rigorous environment that encourages these competencies, empowering our students to become proactive and involved citizens of tomorrow.

Every child is unique and has different needs and we are committed to offering an adapted and challenging curriculum, along with an assortment of stimulating additional opportunities, to cater to these needs. We take pride in getting to know each child and working with them individually to help them realise their full potential – be it in the classroom, the laboratory, on the stage, or on the sports field.
