Hello KISU! My name is Lara Welch and I have been in the profession for over 20 years. I started my career as a class teacher before moving into PE and Sport, where I have been leading departments for the last six years, in Kenya. I have also been grateful to have carried out the role of Advanced Skills Teacher for Braeburn Group of Schools for the past two years.
Having known I wanted to become a teacher from a young age, what I love the most about being in education is the light bulb moments when students ‘click’ with a concept or skill. I also believe that education doesn’t begin and end in the classroom. The opportunities beyond the classroom are what shapes our students, helping them to become independent, confident and resilient young people. Out of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. Being active and enjoying the outdoors is what we enjoy the most, but a good movie with popcorn is also a popular family choice!
